Enterprise Ecosystem: Unified Operations & Device Monitoring

Enterprise Ecosystem: Unified Operations & Device Monitoring

    The Task

A growing enterprise was running e-commerce, logistics, and device management across disconnected tools — spreadsheets, legacy dashboards, and manual processes. They needed a single platform that unified operations, provided real-time visibility, and could scale globally as they expanded into new markets.

    What We Did

This was a 6-month full-cycle engagement. We started with a comprehensive audit of existing workflows, identified integration points, and designed a modular architecture that could be built incrementally. The team delivered automated billing, real-time device monitoring, logistics tracking, and granular role-based access control.

    System Architecture

    # Enterprise Platform ├── Frontend (React + TypeScript) │ ├── Operations Dashboard │ ├── Device Monitoring (real-time) │ ├── E-Commerce Management │ └── Reporting & Analytics ├── API Layer (Node.js) │ ├── REST API (business logic) │ ├── WebSocket Server (live updates) │ └── MQTT Broker (device telemetry) ├── Data Layer │ ├── PostgreSQL (transactional) │ ├── TimescaleDB (device metrics) │ └── Redis (caching + pub/sub) └── Infrastructure ├── Kubernetes (multi-env) ├── Grafana + Prometheus └── Automated billing engine

    Real-Time Device Monitoring

We built an MQTT-based telemetry pipeline that ingests device data in real-time. Each device reports health metrics, location, and operational status. The dashboard surfaces anomalies instantly with configurable alert thresholds — operators can see device status at a glance and drill down into historical data for root cause analysis.

    Automated Billing Engine

The billing system automatically calculates charges based on device usage, subscription tiers, and service agreements. It handles prorations, credits, and multi-currency support. Finance teams get a complete audit trail and can generate invoices with a single click — eliminating hours of manual reconciliation.

    Granular RBAC

With dozens of team members across operations, finance, and engineering, we implemented role-based access control with fine-grained permissions. Regional managers see only their territory's data. Finance accesses billing but not device configs. Engineers can manage devices but not financial records. Every action is audit-logged.

    Business Impact

The platform became the operational backbone of the company. Incident resolution time dropped significantly with real-time monitoring. Finance gained full visibility into revenue and costs for the first time. The modular architecture means new markets can be onboarded without re-engineering the core platform — making it a strategic asset for global expansion.
